Our client, a billion-dollar national success story with a clear strategy in becoming a leader in its sector, is looking for a Commercial Manager – Pricing for their next stage of growth in Australia.
The Role
Reporting to the GM Commercial, the Commercial Manager – Pricing leads a team of two to provide effective and efficient commercial strategies, financial and commercial management, contract reviews and formation, and provide accurate advice to senior management on matters relating to commercial opportunities and risks associated with the projects to ensure financial success of contracts and business units.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive commercial analysis and provide decision-making support for the Company’s diverse business units.
- Develop and prepare budgets, forecasts, and justifications for capital investments and business cases.
- Perform detailed monthly variance analysis for the profit and loss statement (P&L).
- Proactively drive initiatives to reduce operational costs by identifying opportunities, executing strategies, providing support, and reporting on results.
- Collaborate closely with the finance team to improve the accuracy of weekly and monthly P&L reports and provide operational and commercial narratives to support trend analysis.
- Assist the management team in establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) related to financial matters.
- Analyse run rates and identify the main drivers of business performance.
- Act as a trusted business partner, offering advice and insights to senior management.
- Evaluate new business initiatives to support and enhance overall business performance.
- Lead efforts to enhance the financial reporting process, including implementing system changes and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Evaluate performance against established business cases.
- Participate in various projects as needed.
- Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports.
- Perform any other duties as required.
- Timely and accurate reports provided to management.
- Appropriate and deep-dive analysis undertaken.
- Detailed budgets and forecasts prepared on time, in consultation, and accurately.
- Provide feedback from senior management of value-add in driving financial business performance.
Qualifications
Ideally degree qualified, with CPA/CA or equivalent with knowledge, skills and experience gained over 10 years in:
- Identifying key cost and revenue drivers, sound commercial principles, and analytical skills.
- Skilled in tendering, pricing, contract review, contract management, business systems, and process improvement.
- Ability and confidence to communicate and present analytical findings in a concise, insightful, and simplistic manner.
- Proven ability to add value to an organisation’s financial success and provide a high level of stakeholder management.
- Outstanding commercial acumen with the ability to work to deadlines.
- Process change ability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage project deadlines.
