We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Development and Capability Manager to join us and lead our Capability team across the Michael Hill Group. You will be responsible for driving the transformation agenda across the team members lifecycle including culture, values, behaviour, leadership, employee experience, DEI, onboarding, learning, talent identification and development, succession planning, performance management, engagement, and retention. Partnering with the business on high potential team members and succession activities is also a core aspect of this role. This position actively partners with other leaders to design, improve, and implement effective processes and tools to enhance and recognise productivity and performance.
The objective of the Development and Capability Manager is to develop and execute strategy to deliver an engaged, informed, productive, and capable workforce that is not only able to deliver the behaviours of their role but are also successful in achieving strong performance outcomes for the business. In doing so, Michael Hill’s Values and Leadership Promise come to life and the culture of the business is strengthened. The role is required to work seamlessly with other leaders and technical experts to deliver on the Company’s strategic priorities and to drive business performance.
This is a role with great variety and autonomy and will be responsible for:
- Development of capability strategy and road map to deliver capability required for 2030 strategic plan
- Oversees the creation and maintenance of scalable structures and content for onboarding, training, and promoting the growth of all team members
- Responsible for the management, improvement, and extension of current training programs, through blended learning approaches
- Ensures effective partnering with the business to assess capability and to develop customised learning programs to ensure succession planning and talent management activities are well supported
- Delivers improvements to performance, talent management and leadership development processes and outcomes
- Ensures the creation of online training content is executed to a high standard and content is managed through the relevant LMS
- Consistently communicates the importance of productively completing online training and develops and executes strategies to ensure the transfer of learning in the workplace
- Develops and delivers talent and succession policies and processes to ensure the attraction, engagement, and retention of talent for MH Group
- Ensures Learning and HR Business Partners work in unison to deliver strong, measurable talent outcomes and partner with Talent Acquisition Manager on internal mobility opportunities
- Delivers, in partnership with key leaders, succession plans for critical roles and ensures the identification of high potential team members
- Develops and delivers a program to measure, report and improve/maintain team member engagement
- Effectively communicates the We’re Listening strategy across the business
- Develop and execute a Michael Hill learning strategy and campus, including a clear journey map for each retail role.
- Creates and facilitates DEI strategy across organisation with a focus on ongoing training, communication and internal programs
- Lead DEI Committee and/or Employee Advocacy Groups to achieve set yearly diversity goals
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Business / Human Resources / Transformation / Capability / Organisational Development
- Proven ability to effectively lead a diverse and geographically dispersed team
- Significant experience in Capability, Transformation and Culture
- Experience successfully implementing business changes and People and Culture initiatives
- Development and implementation of People strategies, processes and initiatives to improve business results and to transform the workforce
