About the Role
We are currently seeking applications for the permanent full-time (37.5 hours per week) role of Children's Contact Service (CCS) Coordinator within Children's Contact Service located at our Cairns venue.
The purpose of this position is to coordinate the activities of the CCS, which helps facilitate contact arrangements, supports children and their family members during changeovers or supervised visits, and provides a safe and secure environment for the children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organise a safe and appropriate environment, and activities for children that maximise parent/child interaction and engage children in an interesting, calming, and positive manner.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for parents and children accessing CCS, assess the future need of the family in managing the ongoing parental relationship, and refer parents to appropriate services and programs as required.
- Network through regular community liaison and represent the CCS at meetings relevant to this service.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of CCS policies and guidelines.
- Oversee and coordinate (provide debriefing, support, and direction) Family Support Workers, ensuring that the service operates within RAQ policies and guidelines.
- In consultation with the Team Leader and Regional Manager, drive recruitment and selection processes for vacancies, ensuring positions are filled in a timely manner.
- In consultation with Human Resources and venue management, manage employees’ performance issues, identifying these issues as early as possible.
Workdays/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant; however, please note that the position holder will be required to work alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday 8.30am – 5pm) and evenings (10am – 6pm), with some flexibility, to meet the CCS program requirements. Weekend work attracts generous penalty rates.
About You
To be successful in this position, you will possess:
- Appropriate undergraduate tertiary qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences, with studies in child development essential.
- Demonstrated experience working with children and their parents/carers.
- Theoretical knowledge of the issues regarding child development, abuse, and/or neglect.
- Experience working with people in crisis and/or parents in conflict.
- Experience and skills in staff management, time management, and managing caseloads.
- Knowledge and application of relevant legislation and regulations relating to family law and/or children’s contact issues.

The salary being offered is between $96,580.61 to $98,658.16 per annum pro rata, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation. We also offer our employees:
