The Commercial Energy Specialist is responsible for strong sales outcomes that enable RACV Solar to be recognised as a premium national provider of energy solutions to businesses and government bodies.

The Role
Reporting to the Senior Business Developer Manager, the Commercial Energy Specialist will work within the Energy department sales team and support in leading the development of submissions to tenders and proposals for complex cleaner energy projects (batteries, solar, and EV chargers). In addition, the Commercial Energy Specialist will demonstrate impressive B2B sales capabilities to generate, negotiate, and win new business independent of formal tender processes. This role plays an essential part in delivering on the RACV Commercial Energy Strategy, which sees increased product breadth sold to commercial customers beyond the historical solar focus.
Key responsibilities:
- Highly competent in the preparation of tenders and proposals for complex renewable energy projects.
- Technical expertise to enable the development of relevant solutions for customers.
- Highly capable in applying solution selling techniques to drive sales conversion.
- Face-to-face engagement with customers as part of the sales process.
- Strong commercial acumen enabling delivery of robust economic modelling; knowledge with energy modelling tools like Orkestra and Grid Cognition would be highly beneficial.
- Strong computer skills including sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, Solar Design platforms (i.e., Nearmaps, OpenSolar, PVSell, Pylon, Helioscope, PVSyst, Aurora etc.), Adobe Pro, etc.
- Ability to provide high-level customer service as a consultative salesperson.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise a busy workload on tight timelines.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accountability for projects.
About you
You will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with highly developed communication and time management skills and solid financial acumen. Ideally, you will have a technical sales or business development background with some exposure to solar design or modelling experience.
Additionally, you will have:
- CEC Accreditation (preferred).
- 3+ years preparing tender submissions.
- Previous experience working in the renewable energy sector, preferably with direct exposure to commercial & industrial energy users.
- 5+ years working in a commercial and/or technical analyst role with a preference for having worked in the renewable energy sector.
- Tertiary level qualification in business, engineering, or a related field.
