Role Overview
We are seeking passionate and skilled Chefs & Restaurant Managers to join our team at the Melbourne CBD Branch. The ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of Chinese Cuisine, with the ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes that reflect the authenticity and quality China Bar is known for. Whether you are an experienced chef or a talented cook looking to take the next step in your culinary career, we have multiple positions available to suit your skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities Chef
- Prepare and cook a wide range of Chinese dishes, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan and create daily specials and seasonal menus.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Ensure food is prepared and presented in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities Restaurant Manager:
- Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring a smooth and efficient service.
- Manage and motivate the restaurant team, including front-of-house and kitchen staff.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability.
- Ensure that the restaurant complies with health and safety regulations and maintains high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Monitor customer satisfaction, respond to feedback, and ensure a high level of customer service.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and control costs to maximize profitability.
- Recruit, train, and develop staff, ensuring a strong and capable team.
- Handle administrative tasks, including scheduling, payroll, and reporting.
Key Requirements:
- Certificate or Diploma in Culinary arts or equivalent is required.
- Proven experience as a Chef or Restaurant Manager, with a focus on Chinese cuisine.
- Strong knowledge of traditional Chinese spices, cooking techniques, and flavour profiles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
