About the team:
The Marks Mumbai team is a multi-disciplinary group constructed to support and service some of North America and Europe’s biggest brands. This team lives and breathes packaging adaptation and production across a versatile collection of brands and categories – from food & beverages to household essentials and health. You’ll work alongside a team of graphic designers, project managers, proofreaders, quality-check specialists, and schedulers to bring packaging extensions, creative adaptations and updates to life.
This role is designated working from our studio in Mumbai.
About the role:
This position calls for a Team Lead who will oversee a team of designers at all levels ensuring that they deliver to supplied briefs/work orders. You will help drive all aspects of the adaptive design process with your ability to absorb brands and design intent, guiding the team as they creatively develop expanded concepts on their journey into accurate packaging master files. With a strong creative eye, you will support the team with mentorship and guidance to ensure the design they produce maintains creative integrity and cohesion, as they work across a diverse collection of brands and expanded portfolios.
As the Team Lead you will be the bridge and liaison between the global and the local Mumbai teams, working with our Design Directors and Project Managers to support creative and technical excellence, so that all output is delivered in a timely manner to meet established deadlines. You must thrive in a professional, fast-paced environment, and lead a team across multiple projects. Able to exercise a high level of discretion and latitude with information shared.
On any given day you might:
- Act as a creative champion and brand guardian with the ability to ensure that the design integrity and cohesion across portfolios is maintained and that guidelines are followed
- Use your creative and technical talent to understand visual brand language and its applied vision, and help guide the team with this to design new variant expressions, assets and formats that are align with the original intent
- Guide output of high-quality creative adaption in a fast-paced and high-volume production environment making sure deadlines and delivery expectations are met
- Work with our Global Content Studio so that their creative output and retouch flows seamlessly into the wider creative process and output
- Apply your ability to analyze, markup, and communicate revisions on a daily review basis
- Liaise with partners in North America and Europe as work is shared between teams
- Partner with Global counterparts to drive ‘best practice’, and the team’s adherence to ways of working across multiple workflow streams
- Provide guidance, consultation and feedback on technical file builds and standards
- Support and mentor the team with their learning and development
- Partner with experts in the technical Quality Assurance department to ensure accuracy in file builds
The ideal person:
- Possesses a high level of technical knowledge of all packaging print processes and digital based content technical requirements
- Is detail oriented and focused on continual process improvement; must have an open and strong desire to learn from other members of the team, and to share knowledge and discoveries
- Has wide reaching experience in design for packaging, print as well as marketing comms related collateral
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Is a reliable leading team player
- Is an independent problem solver, able to identify areas of improvement in the design process, and work with senior management to implement resolutions
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
You bring:
- Post Secondary education in Graphics Design or related field
- 5+ years of experience working in Packaging and Marcom Design, Prepress or Printer environment
- A deep understanding of Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite (Expert knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign), Microsoft Word, and Excel
