We’re looking for a Full-Time Staff Accountant to support our lightning-fast growth by assisting our Finance Lead with the maintenance of finance trackers, daily transactions and communications, month-end close, and execution of process improvement initiatives.
YAP MEDIA NYC was founded in July of 2020 and has quickly grown to 50 team members around the world without outside investment. To support this lightning-fast growth, we are looking for an organized, service-minded, and meticulous Staff Accountant to serve as our Finance Lead's right-hand.
Finance is core to our company’s services. We provide sales support for podcasters and influencers. We collect money on our clients behalf and send them payouts on a monthly basis. Because of this, finance is critical to our customer experience.
This role provides excellent opportunities for professional growth. You will work directly with our leadership team and our clients. You'll have the opportunity to develop finance processes for a US-based company that is growing fast.

Responsibilities:
- Customer Communications. Efficiently organize and monitor daily communications in Slack and our shared accounting inbox Slack. Liaise with customers and vendors to resolve billing and payment issues.
- Bank Transactions. Monitor and manage bank transactions, including deposits, transfers, and withdrawals.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable. Manage day-to-day transactions related to accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment and invoicing.
- Data Entry. Accurately enter financial data into QuickBooks, ensuring completeness and correctness. Ensure accuracy of accruals and prepaid expenses.
- Reconcile Accounts. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and assist in maintaining accurate general ledger accounts.
- Month-End Closings. Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliation. Ensuring all financial activities are completed on time.
- Reporting. Assist with the preparation of various financial reports for internal use, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Documentation. Maintain organized and up-to-date financial documentation, ensuring all records are accessible for review.
- Team Collaboration. Work closely with sales and operations departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth operational workflows.
- Compliance Support. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, supporting the Finance Lead in adhering to local and federal tax laws.
- Process Improvement. Help develop and execute process improvement initiatives with Finance Lead and COO.
Results:
- Do not allow any emails or slack messages to sit unanswered for more than 1 business day.
- Help our Finance Leads cut the month-end close timeline from 10th of the month to 5th of the month.
- Work with the Finance Lead to create realistic cash flow projections based on advertiser payment data. Use this tracker to increase payment collection times and proactively flag when customers are later than usual with payments.
- Add, track, and maintain your finance tasks and initiatives in ClickUp on a weekly basis.
Requirements
- Able to meet, at minimum, twice weekly between 1-5 ET.
- 4+ years experience in an accounting department.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.
- Skilled in Quickbooks
- Skilled in Google Sheets
- Knowledgeable of accounting principles and financial reporting best practices.
- Attention to Detail. Does not let important details slip through the cracks. Able to follow instructions and delicate processes with minimal mistakes.
- Service Minded. Demonstrates pride in providing the highest quality service to all stakeholders including clients, vendors, and company team members.
