Tasks
To develop the tender information into a competent price & programme and present the same at the review stage. To work within the tender team to maximise all opportunities to achieve the best net cost estimate.
- Preparing estimates for ground engineering projects in conjunction with the estimating team
- Maintain contact with Clients in order to define project requirements, clarify tender queries, identify opportunities for optimization and to follow up on submitted tenders whilst developing long lasting relationships with clients to encourage repeat business opportunities
- Manage tender design work as required (using internal or external design resources)
- Be part of the tender team in developing solutions, programmes and methods of construction
- Liaise with the procurement department and supply chain to obtain quotations for resources, materials and services
- Arrange commercial reviews of draft subcontract documents (review by commercial / legal team)
- Incorporate all current subcontract and material costs into the tender cost estimation
- Drive value engineering, temporary works and other technical elements of cost estimation
- Price tender enquiries using the iTWO Estimating software (training provided)
- Complete risk & chance analysis identifying high risks/concerns and opportunities to senior management
- Prepare tender and governance documentation and present at the price review meetings
- Manage input & maintenance of tender project details in global project database
- Compile offer letter including programme and supporting documentation as required by the ITT
- Assist the bid team in any post tender negotiations
- Price preliminaries and reconcile pricing with planning team
- Development of more junior estimating staff and contribute to the wider team
- Contribute to development of estimating standards & systems for the business unit
Qualifications
- BEng/BSc qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology or related Degree (HNC/HND considered)
- Significant experience within the construction sector with a sound technical knowledge of a range of geotechnical products and solutions.
- Knowledge of commercial conditions (including NEC) and design process.
- Experience in estimating ground engineering projects.
- Computerised estimating systems and IT skills as appropriate.
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Experience of working on large infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of geotechnical design
- Experience of producing tender programmes
