Purpose of the Role:
The Business Insight (BI) Team is responsible for the design and delivery of BI and reporting that provide value and insight across the group. The team is responsible for providing reliable reporting solutions into several areas, including Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Actuarial, Risk and Operations, meeting the quality standards required and enabling the business to make effective decisions.
As a Data QA, you will be responsible to ensure accuracy of the products the Business Insight team produce. You will write test plans and routines, manage regression testing processes, and be the point person for clearing the BI Products for release according to delivery specifications.
The Data QA must be able to function effectively in a high-volume, rapid delivery environment.
We are looking for someone who considers themselves to be an excellent team player with a positive attitude. This role will play a critical part in supporting Brit to continue its journey to develop its data platform on next-generation technology.
Principal Accountabilities:
- The key requirements of the role will be:
- Work with BI analysts and engineers to create testing strategies.
- Responsible to initiate and chair meetings with business and technical teams to clarify any queries required to progress testing preparation.
- Develop and implement test plans and test scripts for each BI product.
- Execution of test scripts against systems, reporting data models and BI reports.
- Execution of regression testing and defect retesting.
- Perform independent review of testing performed by the BI Analysts / report developers ensuring quality and consistency of test scoping, planning execution and reporting.
- To provide support to the BI Analysts and the business users during acceptance testing, including defining the user acceptance test cases, document testing issues and test results.
- Produce test artifacts, e.g. test completion reports and test metrics.
- Defect management.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of management and represent testing in various forums.

Skills, Competencies and Experience
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong experience in validating Power BI Data Models as well Power BI report testing.
- Experience with validating Power BI Data Models.
- Strong data and reconciliations testing experience, as well as understanding and analysing stored procedures for defects and performing root cause analysis.
- Experience in design, development & maintenance of manual and automation test scripts.
- Ability to breakdown high level business requirements, map to iterative delivery and create robust technical test scripts.
- Strong SQL skills to carry out data validations.
- Experience working with Excel / Pivot tables to combine data sets.
- SSRS / Power BI experience preferred.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of Agile practices.
- Experience in Agile delivery techniques, processes, practices, and tooling.
- Experience in Insurance, within the Lloyds insurance market preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external users.
Desirable Skills & Knowledge:
- 5 years or more experience in a comparable role.
- Knowledge of London market insurance.
- Extensive knowledge in the design and build of data testing frameworks.
- Experience of Infrastructure-as-Code e.g. Terraform.
- Agile development techniques (SCRUM, Kanban etc).
- ISTQB Advanced Level Test Management.
