Social Communications and Interactions Lead
The purpose of the role is to further develop the support and provision for students at Preston School. This role will involve working with both individual students and small groups outside of their normal lessons, to enhance their ability to access learning and improve their interactions both in and out of the classroom. This work will also help to improve their personal well-being and self-esteem. The vast majority of the students will have an identified Communication and Interaction Special Educational Need or Disability.
Responsibilities:
- Leading 1:1 and small group interventions for students of all years, particularly Key Stage.
- Implementing interventions such as:
- Dog therapy
- Lego therapy
- Life Skills
- Archery
- Talk about
- Supporting off-site interventions such as horse-riding and other trips.
- Liaising with SENCO, pastoral staff, and the Senior Leadership Team over the progress of students.
- Communicating with families of students on intervention programmes to update on their progress and barriers.
- Collaborating with outside agencies who also work with students on intervention programmes.
