Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (CHA colleagues can be based at any CHA Trust. Work will be largely remote, with regular face to face meetings at one of the CHA sites. The role will therefore involve travel and occasional overnight stays.)

This essential new role will support the Children’s Hospital Alliance PMO team to expand and professionalise the CHA’s broad set of communication and engagement activities.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will develop and lead on delivery of communication and engagement strategies for the CHA, develop and lead on dynamic, relevant and engaging campaigns and communications activity for NHS staff, the public, stakeholders and colleagues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Communications strategy and planning: Development of a communication strategy and plan to build on the reach and impact of the CHA’s annual work plan.
- Member engagement: Managing the CHA Directors of Communication group to develop and implement the communications plan.
- Professionalising our communications function: Creating a CHA communications toolkit to support the PMO team.
- Project management for our annual conference: The CHA is bringing all of its members together in person for the first time in March 2025.
- Digital communications: The role will lead on maintenance and development of the CHA website and member’s web area.
- Stakeholder engagement: Working to the CHA’s Strategy and Advocacy Lead; and with our analytics team.
Person specification
Education and Training
- Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- Strong evidence of CPD, workplace training and specialist communication & engagement experience
- Professional-level writing skills and a strong working knowledge of health policy and partnerships
Experience
- Experience within a mid-level communications role, ideally within a health care or statutory public service environment
- Experience of dealing with complex issues involving strategy and forward planning
- Experience writing engaging copy for a variety of channels
Knowledge
- Strong track record in communications and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to deliver projects on time and on budget
Skills
- Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills
- Excellent persuasive writing and verbal communication skills
