1. POSITION VACANT: Program Director, Agragami India, New Delhi
2. ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Agragami India is an NGO committed to enhancing the quality of life for rural and urban poor communities through initiatives in health, sanitation, education, and livelihoods. With a primary focus on Bihar and the National Capital Region's low-income settlements, the organization aims to empower women and youth using integrated, sustainable approaches in collaboration with government partners.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Secretary and through him to the Board , the newly established role of Program Director (PD) will be pivotal in providing operational oversight and driving both strategic and programmatic growth. The PD will be responsible for achieving excellence in program delivery, augmenting and optimizing resources, and significantly expanding Agragami India’s outreach and impact, building on the success of flagship initiatives in the areas of adolescent development with emphasis on skills development, livelihoods, safety and health.
The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of the social sector, experience in planning, business expansion, and a willingness to drive innovative fundraising and communication strategies.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(A) Strategic and Operational Leadership:
(1) Lead efforts to develop, implement and optimize Agragami India’s strategic plans including for fund raising;
(2) Streamline organizational operations to improve efficiency and impact.
(B) Program Management and Enhancement:
(1) Direct the delivery of programs, ensuring alignment with Agragami India’s mission and community needs;
(2) Identify and pursue opportunities for programmatic growth and innovation.
(C) Explore, Pursue and Mature New Program Opportunities:
(1) Design strategic business and expansion plans to facilitate program growth into new markets;
(2) Lead initiatives to build new partnerships, establishing strong relationships with funders, as well as political and community leaders at potential expansion sites.
(D) Fundraising & Communications:
(1) Scan the donor landscape and develop fundraising strategies for Agragami India in consultation with the Secretary and Board;
(2) Systematically connect with prospective donors to execute fundraising strategies and activities;
(3) Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations, with the goal of creating a stronger brand;
(4) Leverage the organization’s external presence and relationships to uncover new opportunities.
(E) Budget Management and Resource Optimization:
(1) Oversee financial operations, employing creative strategies for cost-effective resource management.
(F) Stakeholder and Community Engagement:
(1) Build and sustain relationships with partners, donors, community leaders, and government entities with the support of the Secretary and Board;
(2) Represent Agragami India in public forums and media to enhance the organization's visibility.
(G) Team Leadership and Development:
(1) Mentor and support Agragami India’s staff, cultivating a cohesive team dedicated to the organization’s values;
(2) Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth among team members.
(H) Governance and Compliance:
(1) Ensure strict adherence to legal standards and organizational policies;
(2) Work closely with the Board of Directors to refine governance frameworks and strategic direction.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Administration, Social Work, or related disciplines.
Experience :
(1) 15 years of overall experience of which five years must be in leadership roles;
(2) Experience of working with state-level or national NGOs in India in developing and successfully implementing skilling, livelihoods, education and health programs and projects;
(3) Prior experience of working in skilling of adolescents and youth will be an advantage;
(4) Recently retired senior development professionals with substantial leadership experience in the social sector or nonprofit organizations shall be considered;
(5) Teachers teaching senior classes in vocational and skill development streams, with experience of administering vocational programs shall be considered;
(6) Ex-armed forces officers with relevant skills and a social sector orientation may also apply.
Skills and Competencies :
(1) Proven track record of operational management and program implementation;
(2) Demonstrated experience of writing and maturing grant and program funding proposals;
(3) Strong understanding of financial oversight and budgetary constraints;
(4) Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills;
(5) Existing network with community organizations, funding agencies, and government bodies.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
(1) Gross annual compensation inclusive of statutory benefits is budgeted at a maximum of Rs. 18 lacs. The post-holder will be eligible for bonuses linked with the achievement of fundraising targets;
(2) The offer made to the selected candidate shall consider, qualifications, experience and salary history;
(3) This is a core position, and the selected candidate shall be issued an open-ended contract with a six-month probationary period.
