The Role
We are looking for a talented and creative person to lead on the Marketing of the School through social media platforms, school website and local community advertising. Throughout the year school prospectus, curriculum booklets, Year 8 preference booklets, sixth form prospectus and show programmes require updating with continued development. The post holder will also create the content and design of the school’s Weekly Newsletter including taking photographs of the school’s weekly activities for inclusion.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and can manage their time to meet deadlines. They can build on existing systems in place whilst bringing their own ideas and experiences to improve these key areas of school life. The successful candidate will have experience in marketing, excellent attention to detail, flawless written skills and be able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment. Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential in order to present the School in the best possible way to stakeholders and the wider community, and when supporting events with photographic and video skills. They will work closely with the Head Teacher and the Senior Leadership Team in continuing to market an outstanding, growing and developing school. They will represent the values and ethos of the School at all times and put the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff first.
The role is full-time 40 hours per week, term-term time only plus 2 weeks with working hours to be agreed. This must include GCSE and A Level results days each year in August.
The School is committed to offering bespoke professional development pathways to all members of staff and would ensure the successful candidate has a development programme in place.
Core Responsibilities
- To take the lead on the marketing of both the School and brand new Sixth Form
- Take photos and videos regularly to maintain a high profile in the local and international community
- To write the weekly school newsletter, chasing editorial content from faculties, collating photos ready for Head Teacher’s approval
- To take responsibility for the school website, ensuring it meets all statutory requirements, as outlined by the Department for Education's guidelines. It must market the school effectively and clearly convey the school’s aims, ethos and successes
- To ensure Website events, news, photos and information is current and accurate
- To provide daily updates on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, managing the School’s social media platforms ensuring content is up to date, relevant and appropriate
- To be able analyse and evaluate the success of of the school’s digital communication mediums and present the information in an appropriate format To seek opportunities for positive press coverage regarding school events and achievements
- To ensure the digital boards around the School are up to date, well written and fit for purpose
- To collaborate with the administrative lead on School events to ensure consistency of advertising
- To support and provide the marketing of events, open days, award evenings etc
- To liaise with local and national press and publications to publicise the School and its activities through press releases and information sharing
- To establish and maintain relationships with local community groups and organisations to ensure the School plays an active and positive role in the Woking community
- To review the School’s prospectus and other related marketing materials each year so that it is up to date and markets the school effectively
- To assist the catering team with menus, signs and promotional material when asked to do so
