Department overview
The Wholesale Data & Operation Technology is a global team geographically spread across London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, and Shanghai. The team is responsible for delivering strategic WDOT (Wholesale Data & Operation Technology) applications and platform, refactor/re-architect existing applications as Cloud-Native. The team is responsible for mandatory and strategic project delivery, performing requirements gathering, design, development, testing, project management, and governance. The team also provides a 3rd level escalation service to the support team.
Based in London, this position will be part of the WDOT – Transaction Services team. This role is to join this team to provide database architect expertise as part of modernization initiative to move from Sybase to MS SQL and in the future will also be required to be part of other development activities.
Responsibilities
- Strong database experience in developing highly scalable and fault-tolerant applications.
- Database Architecture experience to drive replication/reporting infrastructure for huge databases exceeding 10 TB.
- Experience in building applications using DevOps principles.
- Experienced with refactoring and reengineering existing platforms with advancements in technologies. Identify areas for improvement and innovation within the development process.
Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:
Mandatory:
- Database Architecture and design experience.
- Strong experience in developing highly scalable applications with expertise in high volume transactions.
- Relational Databases.
- Experience in building applications using DevOps principles.
- Experienced with refactoring and reengineering existing platforms with advancements in technologies. Identify areas for improvement and innovation within the development process.
- Good understanding of Design Patterns in OOPS.
- Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase along with Stored Procedure tuning knowledge.
- Experience in tools like Jira, GitLab is expected.
- Jenkins, Ansible, CI/CD.
- Database migration experience between Sybase and MS SQL.
- Knowledge in containerization tools like Docker.
- Candidate should be a quick learner. Should have demonstrated quick learning capabilities in the past.
- Strong listening, problem-solving, analytical skills, and excellent communication skills (both spoken and written English).
- Must be a team player with prior experience in working in a global development team.
- Self-motivated individual, quality, and improvement focused.
Development experience in any of these technologies:
- AWS Cloud.
- Docker.
- Understand clients’ needs and issues and respond with high-quality proposals.
