Mainstream Secondary School working with SEND Students

Empowering Learning is recruiting Psychology & Sociology Graduates to work on a full-time basis as Learning Support Assistants within mainstream schools with SEND students across Lambeth Borough. You will be supporting pupils with different SEND needs, mainly teaching a positive behaviour approach. Students with SEND needs that attend mainstream schools typically have mild ASD and SEMH needs. This position will provide valuable classroom-based experience for anyone considering a future in teaching, working as a 1:1 support assistant.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and hands-on individual who can take direction and lead when called upon. If you are looking to start a career in education or already have one, this is a great way to get started. Job Responsibilities
- Must be comfortable supporting pupils with various learning difficulties.
- Psychology & Sociology Graduates typically possess excellent communication skills and a good understanding of personalities.
- Ability to engage and support pupils.
- Not be a clock-watcher and be able to support staff and students.
- Proactive candidates tend to excel within the school industry.
- Supervising children's behaviour.

Job Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities is desirable.
- Able to stay calm and de-escalate challenging behaviour.
- Valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
- Available 3-5 days a week and able to commit to at least 4 months.
