We are looking for an Events & Marketing Assistant to join our team.
The Events & Marketing Assistant role is a busy, fun and exciting one. There are lots of moving parts to creating standout events, from the design through to marketing, as well as being there on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly. There’ll also be plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and learn new things.

The Events & Marketing Assistant is also a people person role and involves getting to know lots of members, venues, suppliers and learning what our talented business community want and need to thrive.
This job includes:
Events:
- Setting up our event booking pages on Eventbrite.
- Managing bookings for attendees, guests, speakers and team.
- Writing and sending event communications, including confirmations and follow-up emails.
- Working closely with the Events Manager to plan and deliver the Chamber events programme.
- Event preparation including making badges, reserved signs, attendee lists, writing running orders and responsible for event equipment.
- Assisting the Events Manager in communicating with venues.
- Attending events and managing the sign-in, setting up and packing down.
- Setting-up events surveys in Google forms and preparing reports.
- Working with the Events Manager on monthly reporting.
Marketing:
- Collating marketing info about events.
- Sharing event information with partner organisations.
- Using the website and social media to promote our events.
- Writing and setting up email marketing mailers using Mailchimp.
- Creating and sending marketing packs to event speakers.
- Approvals of content submitted to the Activity Hub on the Chamber website.
- Writing and uploading blogs to the Chamber website.
- Working with the Marketing & Engagement Manager on event copy.
Brighton & Hove Living Wage Campaign:
- Working closely with the Marketing & Engagement Manager to run and build awareness of the campaign in the city, and to encourage new signups.
- Monitoring, processing and welcoming new signups to the campaign, and associated admin.
- Using the website and social media to promote the Living Wage Campaign.
- Creating content, including blogs, to promote employers that are signed up to the campaign.
Members:
- Welcoming and getting to know members at events.
- Dealing with member phone enquiries and helping them make the most of their membership.
- Building rapport with our team of Chamber Ambassadors and helping them to get involved.
Research:
- Researching venues, speakers and topics for events and contributing ideas for new events.
- Maintaining and updating our list of speakers and venues.
About you:
- Two years’ relevant experience
- Highly organised and good at managing multiple deadlines with varying priorities
- Excellent attention to detail
- A strong and confident communicator
- Good negotiating and persuasive skills
- Proactive and creative approach to problem-solving
- Able to take responsibility for targets
- Enjoys working collaboratively within a team
- Understanding of marketing activities and using social media for business
- Experienced in communicating with and managing a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent digital skills and experience of using online software such as CRM systems, Eventbrite, Mailchimp and updating websites

Brighton Chamber is a not-for-profit independent Chamber supporting businesses, charities and social enterprises to meet, learn and grow. We are a small team of six and we’re involved in lots of initiatives and activities that help people that run and work for businesses succeed and thrive.
Place of work:
We offer hybrid working with a mix of working from our office at Barclays Eagle Lab and remotely from home or other workspaces as well as attending events.
Salary:
The salary is £23,400 and includes 24 days holiday plus bank holidays.
