Savills Environment and Infrastructure is a department in the Planning Division that is focused on managing environmental impacts and sustainability for major development projects, providing a range of specialist consultancy services. Our goal is to shape projects, ensure environmental protection and betterment, and support our clients to get vital infrastructure approved and built.
About this role
As a graduate within the Environment and Infrastructure team, you will gain experience across a wide variety of different service lines and skills. Daily tasks for our graduates can vary from: helping to manage complex multi-disciplinary environmental assessments and produce high-quality reporting; being out on-site undertaking environmental baseline air quality or acoustics surveys; collecting and interpreting baseline data to understand local health and socio-economic circumstance; undertaking modelling assessments for carbon emissions, climate risks, air quality or public health; working on sustainability and climate strategy; advising clients in virtual and face-to-face meetings; or preparing proposals and costing to bid on future work.
Our key growth areas and responsibilities that we anticipate that the successful candidate will be involved in include:
- EIA co-ordination and management of consent applications
- Lifecycle carbon, circular economy and climate risk assessment and strategy
- Air quality assessment and management
- Health, equality and social value assessment and strategy
- Acoustic assessment and management
- Water neutrality assessment and advice
- Planning, consents and regulation for major development
Key responsibilities
As a graduate consultant within the team, the key responsibilities would be as follows:
- Technical expertise: To develop a high standard of knowledge, working towards becoming a recognised expert in the field, in one or more areas of the environment, health and social wellbeing.
- Project delivery: To deliver a high quality of work and effectively balance competing priorities. You will be supported in doing so by senior members of the team.
- Project management: To help project manage the projects that you are involved in, ensuring that they remain on time and on budget.
- Business development: To write proposals, cost work, and support wider business development opportunities.
- Client engagement: To join and input into client meetings as and when required. You will also be encouraged to develop your own network by attending relevant external events and webinars.

Career development
You will be exposed to writing proposals for projects (including costings), writing reports and presenting your recommendations to guide clients. You will gain an in-depth understanding of major development projects and programmes for high-profile companies.
At the end of the two-year period, you will be a competent and confident consultant able to manage smaller projects with minimal support. You will continue to receive training and career development opportunities to allow progression to more senior roles.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Required
- High attention to detail, well organised and a proactive approach;
- Strong verbal, numerical and report writing skills;
- A team player with leadership potential;
- Strategic approach to problem solving;
- Highly motivated; and
- Computer and spreadsheet literate.
Desirable
- A high-quality Bachelor or Masters degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Urban Design or a closely related field.
- Technical proficiency in one or more of the following applications:
- Excel (advanced modelling capabilities)
- GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS
- Programming languages such as Python or RStudio
- Data science tools such as Stata, Alteryx or Talend
