Job Title: Court of Protection Executive (Grade C)
Reporting: Reports to the Team Leader/Head of Department
Office Location: Liverpool
Overall purpose: To provide first rate legal services to our clients according to their specific needs, ensuring full compliance with policies and procedures laid out by the group and by regulatory bodies. To act as an ambassador for the group at all times, actively promoting its services.
Overview of the role:
As a COP executive, you will need legal experience. Accordingly, you will be employed and charged as ‘Grade C’ fee earner. You will need to become a leader for the other paralegals in the team, helping to grow and develop the team and providing support to the Team Heads/Department Heads in managing clients’ day to day.
Responsibilities:
- Work with limited supervision on client files day to day.
- Achieve chargeable hours targets with a good to excellent recovery rate.
- Have a working knowledge of the COP role at an advanced level and train junior/new starters at paralegal level.
- Work closely with team leaders across the department to help them lead their own teams.
- Show empathy and support through difficult and emotionally challenging cases.
- Foster a culture of empathy with clients while managing their expectations.
- Handle client meetings and communication with limited supervision, as appropriate to clients’ needs.
- Understand the efficiency of processes in the different COP teams and work with team leaders to ensure profitable and efficient service delivery.
- Identify and share best practices within your department, always looking for incremental improvements.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of client financial structures across the spectrum of needs.
- Strive to achieve chargeable hours targets and ensure recoverability of recorded time.
- Ensure sufficient workload to meet targets through dialogue with your supervisor.
