Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire and Wakefield.
We are now looking for a Careers Advisor to join us where you will support FE students at the College. As well as working with all our FE students, you will work closely with our SEND students and students with EHCPs. This is a part-time role, working 29.6 hours per week. Based at York, the role may involve travel to our other sites.
Supporting students to make informed decisions, you will assess their values, interests, abilities and skills and relate these to opportunities for employment, further study and training. Advising on how to present effectively at interviews and cope with the transition from Further Education to their chosen route of progression, the role also involves promoting the key employability skills of students, including careers education within the curriculum.
We are looking for someone who has the appropriate qualification in CEIAG at Level 4 or above (or who is working towards this), coupled with experience in careers education and guidance. A relevant qualification in SEND would also be desirable. With an enthusiasm for working with students of all ages, you will have a coaching and mentoring aptitude and be highly organised, with a flair for organising engaging and exciting events. You will also have a keen eye for detail and a good level of written communication skills.
