Communications & Engagement Manager
Salary: Up to £45,000 (pro rata)

Connect Health is looking for a Communications and Engagement Manager to join our pioneering organization. We are looking for a storyteller, who is passionate about people and the health and wellbeing of our population. Someone who will use communications, engagement or marketing strategies to have a positive impact, and who enjoys developing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. A committed and dynamic person who will play a leading role in the design and delivery of Connect’s communication and engagement strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Working with our operational and clinical leaders to maximize the performance and reputation of our services
- Providing insight and interventions to improve the efficiency and experience of the ‘patient journey’ for people accessing our clinical services
- Nurturing positive working relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders including NHS ICBs, Primary Care organisations, local authorities, VCSE groups, health scrutiny bodies, local and regional media outlets, as well as patient and resident groups
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with key internal stakeholders
- Providing communications, engagement and marketing expertise to new internal projects and service development initiatives
- Developing inclusive and accessible materials, tools, and techniques for both internal and external use.
- Designing multi-media communications, including print materials, press releases, email communications, social media and web content
- Designing, organizing, overseeing and evaluating events aligned to the organisation’s strategic objectives.
- Leading on the creation of human-interest stories about our colleagues and patients
- Contributing to the successful delivery of our People Plan, including leading on the engagement, involvement, and effective communication with our colleagues
- Enhancing our organisational culture by ensuring all communications and engagement content is reflective of Connect’s values and behaviours.
What you will bring to the role:
- Have a minimum of degree level qualification
- Have experience of working in a comms, copywriting, marketing or equivalent role
- Have an understanding and general interest in healthcare and/or public health
- Have experience of creating, monitoring and delivering effective communications strategies
- Have experience of leading the planning, promotion, and management of large events
- Have a track record of leading projects involving multi-professional teams to successfully deliver a range of projects
- Be competent in copywriting, graphic design, and partnership management
- Be comfortable using MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and design applications such as Canva.
- Have experience of managing digital channels (e.g. websites, social media, intranet platforms)
- Have awareness of communication theories and practices
- Be passionate about advocating for good communications and persistent in ensuring others recognise its value too.
- Demonstrate an awareness of cultural diversity and the necessity to ensure inclusive communication
- Be able to travel periodically, including occasional overnight stays.
And even better if you have:
- CIM or CIPR diploma (Level 6 or above)
- Previously worked within healthcare, public health, or the charity sector
- Led on the design and undertaking of Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) or similar
- A full UK drivers’ licence
- Competence in photography, videography, and/or basic animation.
- Experience using specialist design software including Adobe Creative Cloud
- Demonstrable propensity for creative thinking to develop engaging content
