Location: London Broadcasting House. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.

Job Introduction
London is a patch like no other serving one of the largest and most diverse cities in Europe on some of the biggest stories. BBC London prides itself on producing original journalism that reflects the many communities we serve. Our 6.30 evening programme, on BBC One, is the most watched TV news programme in the capital. Our online stories are frequently amongst the most read and our social media posts reach millions of people. We now have an exciting opportunity for a first class journalist to become BBC London’s Work and Money Correspondent on a 12 month attachment. This is a really exciting and wide ranging brief covering everything from the cost of living, to the capital’s housing crisis. The ideal candidate will already have considerable editorial experience, working at a senior level in a busy multi-platform environment. We are looking for a correspondent who is a brilliant story-teller and live performer, with fantastic ideas and can demonstrate the ability to create real impact in an engaging way. You will also come equipped with a range of skills; confident in shooting/editing TV packages, writing an engaging piece for online and delivering a fluent radio two-way or rail.
Main Responsibility
- This is a senior role working alongside a multi-platform team of dedicated journalists and technical staff.
- You will be expected to respond to breaking on the day stories, available to offer insight and analysis on your brief, whilst also working up your own original content across our output.
- You will work closely with our planning team, as well as colleagues on our Digital, TV and Radio teams to ensure we’re meeting the BBC’s ‘Local Value for All’ aims.
- This is a demanding role with plenty to juggle, so excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.
Are you the right candidate?
- You’ll already have considerable experience working in a live TV news environment, but will also be able to demonstrate an ability to deliver across all the platforms we serve.
- You will also have a solid working knowledge of the BBC’s editorial guidelines, as well as media law and be able to demonstrate the BBC’s values in your work.
- You will love working in teams, whilst also having the ability to manage your own time and the demands placed on you effectively.
- Above all else we are looking for a journalist bursting with great ideas rooted in London and the drive needed to turn that into engaging content, whatever the platform.
