As part of our ongoing expansion, we are looking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Commercial Manager to join our team for a significant Wind Farm project. The role can be based either in Wellington, NSW, or at our Head Office in Doncaster, Victoria.
In this key position, you will report directly to the Project Manager and take ownership of all commercial aspects of the project. Your responsibilities will include overseeing contract management, cost control, procurement, and financial reporting. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that the project is executed within budget, on schedule, and fully compliant with contractual commitments.
As a successful candidate, you will demonstrate the following:
- Lead negotiations with our client, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Manage the head contract to ensure compliance with legal and company standards, including payment claims, variation and extension of time claims.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee the procurement process, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
- Supervise the commercial management of subcontractors.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project.
- Lead and mentor a team of quantity surveyors, contract administrators, finance and administration and other commercial staff.
- Support the preparation of comprehensive monthly cost and revenue reports for the project, highlighting variances and trends.
- Develop and implement subcontract procurement strategies aligned with project objectives and timelines.
What do you bring?
In addition to the above, we require an individual with:
- Minimum 15 years + experience in commercial management; managing head contracts & subcontracts within the construction industry.
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or equivalent.
- Ability to travel interstate on a monthly basis or work on DIDO or FIFO work cycle.
- Financial Acumen: Proficient in cost and revenue reporting, financial analysis, and budgeting.
- Strong leadership, people management and communication skills to manage and mentor commercial and project team resources.
