The Assistant Catering Operations Manager acts as a leader for Team Members; coaching and encouraging their best work, whilst grooming the next generation of Team Leaders, Supervisors and Managers. What will I be doing?
As an Assistant Catering Manager, you are responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Manages customer relationships through responding to customer inquiries, as well as organizing arrangements as they relate to social and corporate events ie: set-up and execution of social and corporate meetings, meals and special events.
- Provides direction and supervision of meeting and/or catering logistics to Catering Team Members and other departments responsible for event execution
- Represents the hotel and conducts conferences with individual customers by telephone or in-person to ensure customer needs are understood and met.
- Meets with vendors to schedule AV requirements and coordinate bump ins/outs
- Provides support to Catering Manager in planning and on-site execution of large events
- Assists in the physical movement of hotel or customer equipment or furnishings as necessary to complete a tight turn-around of public function space
- Directly assists customers as necessary, which may require moving of up to 20kg safely
- Audits customer checks and department charges and files to ensure accuracy
- Supervises staff in creation and distribution of accurate written materials
- Ensures that contracts, menus, letters and reports are completed according to Hilton standards and policies
- Compiles Food and Beverage post event report
- Pro-actively assisting the team in solving guest issues or complaints, encouraging the team to use their initiative and empowerment guidelines at all times. Ensure that Make it Right and the Blue Energy Service Skills are demonstrated by the team consistently and effectively
- Check set ups and cleanliness prior to the commencement of functions to ensure function rooms meet and exceed
requirements as per Event Orders - Utilise the recognition tools available to reward and recognise the Food & Beverage team, encouraging the team
to do the same - To coordinate with Housekeeping and Engineering to ensure maintenance and cleanliness is at the required
standard

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- Knowledge of local market
- Knowledge of hospitality
- Proven administration and operational experience at supervisor level or higher
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant field would be advantageous
