Are you on first-name terms with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), and Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC)? Awesome! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves supporting our business to manage regulatory risk. Are you ready to be our next Compliance Monitoring Officer. You'll help us stay within our risk appetite through the effective delivery of our Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP). This means you'll be assessing and assuring our compliance with key rules, regulations, principles, and practices.
Got a good eye for detail? Great! You'll ensure our approach to governance, control, and documentation is consistent across the board. Spot a breach? You'll be the one to identify, assess, and discuss it promptly with the relevant management representatives.
You'll monitor progress, provide feedback, produce reports, and support independent reviews of the control environment. Plus, you'll help us stay compliant with all relevant standards and regulations.
Working flexibly, you'll spend most of your time working from home, with a couple of days a month in the office (so living close to Haywards Heath, West Sussex or Salford Quays, Manchester would be perfect). But of course, it’s your choice - if you prefer to be in the office more - that's good with us too.
To shine in this role, you’ll need to:
- Know FCA, EIOPA and GFSC rules like the back of your hand
- Understand Risk Management principles and their application
- Be a people person, great at questioning and obtaining information
What's involved:
- Monitor own progress against the Compliance Plan (CMP), report on this to the GCMM on a monthly basis and refine flexible aspects of the Plan in line with risk profile of the relevant functions
- Provide effective feedback to management with regard to this monitoring activity, gathering evidence to confirm that any remedial action required is completed
- Produce Compliance Monitoring Reports, proposing actions and resolutions for findings for submission to senior management and relevant management
- Report on progress against Compliance recommendations to the GCMM and to escalate any concerns with timely responses, as necessary, to senior management
- Support the GCMM in the completion of compliance reviews of FCIM’s outsourced suppliers, where relevant
- Deputise for the GCMM as appropriate
- Support independent reviews of the control environment, particularly adherence to procedures and mitigation of regulatory risks and issues by management
- Support the business with the review of Core Processes to ensure adherence to the Process Governance Framework
- Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times (including TCF)
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent experience of working in a similar role in the general insurance industry
- Good understanding of motor insurance products and the motor insurance industry
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent at building and maintaining relationships
- Good influencing and negotiating skills
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written
- Problem solving, with the ability to translate issues and find resolutions
- Excellent organisation, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Report writing to a high standard
- Excellent numeracy and literacy
- Competent use of IT and software (i.e. Excel, Word and Powerpoint)
