An opportunity has arisen for a Digital Graphics Designer to join the Design team at its London headquarters. This position will report to the Head of Design.
Role description
The successful candidate will bring design know-how and creativity to our graphics across all digital channels: producing interactive website graphics; bringing innovation to graphics and animations for our online data platforms; and creating digital graphic designs for our flagship publications that tell compelling stories – from agenda-setting geopolitical statistics to military hardware schematics.
We seek a skilled visual storyteller with a strong track record and keen understanding of maps and data. You will also have to design with motion in mind – working with coders who can bring this to life – but animation expertise of your own would be highly desirable.
Candidates must be experienced and show evidence of a strong background in digital design. You will demonstrate a prowess for creative visual solutions while adhering to brand guidelines. If you are ready to influence some of the world’s largest organisations and governments, as well as world renowned journalists and academics – we want to hear from you.

- Mining our rich databases to find raw statistics you can tap into – bringing this date to life using graphs, charts and maps.
- Working with our comms team to create content to use across our social media channels.
- Collaborating with in-house teams to create and develop online data visualisation products.
- Developing on our digital style guide to ensure our online presence is visually cohesive.
- Working with our in-house design team to ensure there is continuity between our print and digital output.
- Working with our flagship database Military Balance Plus to proactively connect with its audience.
- Own creative direction on social platforms both organic and paid.
- Continuously seek to stay up-to-date with the latest digital design trends and technologies.
Requirements – essential

- Portfolio showing sharp, clean approaches to animation and data visualisation across different devices.
- Design experience implementing 'digital-first' solutions from start to end.
- Comfortable experimenting with and learning how to use new software and other tools.
Requirements – desirable
- Previous experience working for clients in the political, government, or non-profit sector and an interest in and understanding of security and geopolitical issues.
