Responsibilities:
• Enter and confirm charges accurately and in a timely manner.
• Verify patient eligibility and confirm their insurance benefits.
• Follow up diligently with both commercial and government payers to obtain claims statuses.
• Address denied claims and work on their status via dedicated billing software.
• Review all relevant documents for accuracy and completeness before proceeding to the billing stage.
• Set up claims for billing using specified software, adhering to all relevant protocols.
• Accurately post payments and adjustments from remittance advice received both on paper and electronically.
• Handle sensitive personal information, ensuring strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and HITECH standards.
• Perform other ad hoc tasks as needed to support the efficiency and effectiveness of the billing team.
Qualifications:
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Office365, demonstrating a general working knowledge of these platforms.
• Proven experience in Accounts Receivable, including follow-ups and appeals.
• Experience with extracting and sending medical records to payers for payment.
• In-depth understanding of HCPCS and CPT codes, and familiarity with their application in a healthcare billing context.
• Experience in facility and laboratory billing using forms UB-04 and CMS-1500.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and HITECH standards and a commitment to maintain these standards in all aspects of work.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal, demonstrating the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in all interactions.
