Job Title: Non Food Packaging Development Manager – Leeds
Purpose: To deliver world class, on-brand, innovative and legally compliant packaging aligned with the activity plan and wider business objectives.
Support the Brand Activity Plan
• Working closely with the trading and technical teams, customers, product vendors, packaging manufacturers, the Far East Packaging Development team as well as other stakeholders to identify, develop, trial and deliver insightful and innovative packaging solutions aligned to the customer proposition to deliver on quality and value in your categories.
• Responsible for completion and continual update of the Pack Copy Document to confirm pack formats for artwork briefing in your categories.
• Attend and contribute to all project meetings, and briefings as required.
• Responsible for enabling more products to be sold online due to insightful, innovative and protective packaging across your categories.
• Responsible for supporting wider sustainability targets, and any wider government body targets we’ve committed to.
Processes & Project Management
• Responsible for the packaging development process including sampling, specifying, factory trials and ensuring alignment to product and business suitability, as well as legal and brand compliance in your categories.
• Ensure that packaging solutions are landed by engaging with the relevant stakeholders at the right time and communicating clearly and credibly with stakeholders at all levels throughout the brand processes.
• Responsible for supporting continual improvements to ways of working, processes and documentation.
Due Diligence & Quality
• Drive the quality agenda by working towards defined minimum packaging specifications for each category, and creating the necessary documentation and toolkits to communicate this to vendors.
• Support the development, implementation and use of packaging specification system across category.
• Work closely with all stakeholders to reduce the category damage and returns rate.
Cost Savings
• Identify and scope projects to deliver against the £1m packaging team target such as damage and returns reductions, packaging rationalisation and/or reduction and increasing space efficiency.
