This is an exciting opportunity for a highly focused and driven individual to join a busy, modern and expanding local law firm. Bright Solicitors is a Plymouth-based firm serving the local community, but also working for clients nationally. We are looking for committed administrative support within our specialist New Homes Department.
The successful applicant will need to support the team’s case handlers by performing clerical and administrative work. No previous experience is required and training will be provided.

The Successful Applicant:
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and be comfortable working under pressure within tight time frames. These roles are predominantly computer-based within an office environment, so an understanding of computers and an ability to pick up new software systems is critical.
The successful applicant will be expected to be customer-facing when needed and have a confident demeanour when communicating with all parties. The ideal candidates will be happy to take on a variety of tasks without complaint, work effectively as part of a team and have the ability to pick up tasks and terminology effectively.
Depending on experience and qualifications this role could involve time-sensitive progression routes within the firm. Some level of office-based administrative experience is preferable.
Key Tasks Include:
- Opening files using the case management system
- Drafting quotes for legal assistants and paralegals, using a pre-populated template or quoting software
- Ordering basic search packs
- Drafting exchange memos to be signed off/checked by paralegals (fee earners)
- Fund receipts chits to the accounts team
- Drafting Completion packs using completion statements to be signed off by paralegals
- Answering phones and taking simple messages
- Archiving documents and files
- File Administration
- Scanning and Filing
- Assisting clients with simple queries over the phone and by email
- Providing administrative support to the wider team when required
- Maintaining and updating live matters record
Knowledge & Skills Development:
- Begin to develop an understanding around the meaning of the conveyancing process including basic legal concepts such as mortgages, exchange of contracts, and completion.
- Knowledge around compliance issues e.g. AML, GDPR, Client ID, data breaches
- Customer service skills – taking external calls (taking messages for fee earners if appropriate, getting confidence speaking with clients/stakeholders and learning which questions to ask to extract the required information.
- Use of the case management system to save incoming and outgoing emails and letters, generate documents from precedents and begin to be able to review the case history of the file to be able to provide brief updates to clients and third parties.
