About the role Thymia is on a growth path, backed by healthy VC funding and solid revenues. We are seeking an exceptional Head of Finance and Operations to be responsible for managing the day to day financial operations of thymia, including FP&A and financial reporting. They will also work closely with the COO to support on analytics, legal, people and business operations.
Key responsibilities
- Accounting & tax
- Provide documentation, oversight and review the work performed by external accountants (including statutory fillings, tax returns and other legal requirements)
- Main point of contact for dealing with external auditors (provide documentation, explanations, manage the contact with external accountants, review and discuss the financial statements before issuance)
- Assist on any due diligences (create data rooms, provide documentation and explanations as requested)
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Support the COO to create yearly budgets by department and on company level (periodicity might change depending on company growth and needs)
- Prepare quarterly forecasts based on company performance and create different scenarios for future outcomes
- Create a monthly process to analyse actuals x budget (& forecasting) to be timely reported after month-end, including explanations for material variances for different stakeholders (management team, investors)
- Provide timely reporting and analysis for internal and external stakeholders (including investor relations)
- Treasury
- Overall cash management, runway calculation, anticipating cash needs
- Own the billings & collections operations
- Own the accounts payable & payments process (including vendors, salaries, sales commissions, employee reimbursements and taxes, liaising with external providers for some)
- Implement solutions to guarantee that employees, vendors, taxes and social security charges are paid on time
- Implement a scalable invoicing and collection tool
- Legal
- Contract management for suppliers, clients, contractors and employees
- General legal support for day to day business needs
- Operations
- Support COO with vendor management and lease management
- Business operations and special projects including people operations
- Other COO support
- Partner with the sales team: manage and analyse revenue, calculate sales commissions, etc.
- Risk control: D&O, insurance, customer concentration exposure
- Assist with People operations - onboarding, benefits, cost calculation
- Support with analytics including tracking KPIs and OKRs
What we expect from the you? - Keep the house in order : financials and key metrics (churn etc) are accurate, consistent and available promptly. Document operational procedures and assure that those are being followed at a company level
- Avoid disasters: Help the COO have an accurate picture of the cash situation and burn at all times, and helps build realistic projections (and re-forecast as necessary)
- Run a tight ship : stuff and people get paid on time, KPIs are tracked and reported to stakeholders
- Be part of the team: be prepared to support where needed across operations and collaborate with multiple teams leading with excellence.
Background - Someone with a very deep mastery of all nuances of accounting, controls, operations and reporting, preferably with an audit or accounting background
- Someone who can partner with the COO and provide some immediate value on finance and operations and over time can scale to provide strategic value to the leadership team
