The Acute Medicine Unit (& SDEC) at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary prides itself as a Centre of Diagnostic Excellence. This post offers the successful candidate an opportunity to contribute to the further development of a well-established service.
The successful candidate will provide support/advice and guidance to the Medical SDEC team, alongside their Acute Medical Unit duties.
Main duties of the job
The Acute Medicine team comprises of a Consultant led team covering 39 Acute Medical Unit beds (3 side rooms) and an adjoining Medical SDEC.
- Be dedicated to hands-on involvement with medical admissions to the Acute Medicine Unit focusing on timely assessment, management and discharge
- Supervise junior doctors, ANPs & nurse consultants seeing patients in our medical SDEC & on AMU
- Supervise & co-ordinate junior doctors on AMU
- Teach & train undergraduate medical students & junior doctors
- Provide leadership & work as part of our team
- Be part of the on-call team
Person specification
Education and qualifications
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (with a licence to practice)
- Current MRCP(UK) qualification, or equivalent
- Certificate of Completion in Specialist Training (CCT) or within 6 months of completion of training at the time of interview
- Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR), or European Community Rights
- Substantial (5 years+) Acute internal Medical experience
- Specialty Certificate Examinations in Acute Internal Medicine
