About the role
Anyone familiar with York, or who has even just visited the City for the day, will have seen our Road Train, which takes visitors between the Museum and the City Centre.
The train has become a familiar and well-loved sight in York and the team who operate it are just as important.
As a driver for the Road Train, you will not only drive and act as a guard on the road train, but you will also be a representative for the Museum, chatting to and helping visitors and ensuring they have a great day out. You will also carry out maintenance checks on the famous train as well as cleaning and polishing the vehicle to ensure it always looks great.
We have a permanent, minimum 5 hours per week, variable hour contract; as well as additional casual hours available. There is also the option to work additional extra hours within a customer service focused capacity as casual Road Train Guard or casual Visitor Experience Assistant, on a mutually beneficial basis as and when operational needs require.

About you
You enjoy driving and have a driver's licence, ideally already possessing Category D1 certification. You are able to follow rules and procedures to ensure the safety of our passengers and staff and have an appreciation for the outdoors.
A good team player, you thrive from proactive collaboration and providing an environment where people feel welcome. If you also enjoy engaging with people and are keen to be a great representative for the Museum before visitors have passed through our doors - we are keen to hear from you!
