Crafty Counsel’s mission is to bring joy, insight, and connection to in-house legal professionals around the world.
In-house legal professionals are lawyers working in the legal departments of companies and other organisations, rather than in law firms or barristers’ chambers.
Crafty Counsel is where in-house legal can grow their network, nurture their career, and cultivate their resources.
As the UK’s fastest growing community for in-house lawyers, we do this by creating events, community, content, and insights for members.
At the core of our offering is events which include Crafty Fest - the largest event for in-house legal in the UK with approximately 700 attendees, several other smaller conferences, and regular virtual meetups. We also run an active online Community Hub and app where our members trade recommendations, career opportunities, and general moral support. An affiliated network of volunteers within the community run ‘Crafty Locals’ - small scale meetups in towns and cities across the UK, and beyond.
Law firms, legal tech companies, and others in the legal sector often want to meet with, partner with, and market to in-house lawyers. We work with those organisations to create content, shape their market positioning, generate new business, and understand their clients better.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a data analyst with great attention to detail, a process-driven mindset, and a passion for community-first brands to join our team. As a data enthusiast, you will take complex data sets and help the business to meaningfully use data. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this role will support the business as a whole. You will play a key role in driving growth and shaping the future of the business with data-driven insights.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
- Act as the custodial guardian of data for the company
- Monitor, evaluate, and create regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) across various platforms relating to marketing, sales, events, and community
- Extract data sets, transform, and develop visual data reporting, enabling the business to monitor real-time progress on KPIs and highlight trends across various platforms
- Support our Events and Marketing team by producing ticketing forecasts
- Analyse customer and community data to identify patterns, trends, and insights which can be used across the business to enhance retention, increase engagement, and reduce churn
- Provide data relevant for our commercial partners to support the Commercial team’s sales process and produce wrap-up reports at the end of partnership projects
- Responsible for day-to-day data governance activities such as resolving duplicates, ensuring data completeness, reporting on data quality, and monitoring data related to compliance with internal policies
- Champion automation within the wider business by making recommendations and supporting teams to achieve their goals
- Contribute to wider business strategy and projects by providing data-driven recommendations, analysing trends, and growth opportunities
- Own CRM application and updates, including data to ensure integrity and optimal performance
- Develop and refine customer segmentation to help us improve experience and bring a higher level of personalisation
- Work with the Head of Marketing to recommend and implement visualisation applications, including training of business users
WHAT WILL I BRING TO THE ROLE?
- 2-3 years experience in data, analytics, or another directly applicable area
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and HubSpot
- Knowledge of data sciences, coding/scripting languages, and databases
- With a great level of attention to detail, you’ll be able to work with and analyse complex qualitative and quantitative data sets
- Bring magic to data visualisation by conveying findings in clear, creative, and accessible ways
- Confident in contributing new ideas to the business
- Enjoy looking at things in different ways to find trends and opportunities that others might not have noticed
- Able to see the big picture and how your work fits into what we’re trying to achieve as a business
- Enthusiastic self-starter who wants to grow, try new things, and can also adapt to change
- We are a small team, so you must be collegiate and fun
- Legal sector experience is a “nice to have”

How we work
We work in a hybrid work environment where our centre of gravity is central London. What this means is:
- First business day of the week: the whole team works together in person.
- Rest of the week: each team decides its own pattern, by business need.
- You will be required to attend most of our events in person, which may involve some evening work.
- Think of it as a very flexible and humane model but where you need to be able to (and want to!) get into London frequently.
- Our office is in Holborn / Tottenham Court Road.
You can also work fully remotely up to four weeks a year, usually when we are not holding events.
Once a year, we travel for an overnight stay in a UK location for a team offsite. So far, we’ve been to York, Oxford, and Brighton.
