You’ll be responsible for all aspects of External Corporate Communications including media and digital engagement, communications planning, and issues and reputation management. You’re passionate about sustainability and the circular economy and skilled at bringing strategy and vision to life across a multitude of external stakeholders. Mindset is essential here. You’re a modern communicator, across the key trends and know the power that comes from bringing great communicators together.
Role overview:
You'll be responsible for:
- Building our external reputation by identifying and promoting key areas where we are leading the way, including our successful ‘Long Live Your Tech’ campaign, our omnichannel approach, and our Capable and Committed Colleagues.
- Using a smart campaign-based approach to integrated communications, leveraging your experience in digital and traditional communications to connect with real impact.
- Living our values - ‘We put customers first’, ‘We win together’, and ‘We own it’ - helping us to be famous for the things we want to be famous for.
- Confidently building relationships and engaging purposefully with the media and other external stakeholder groups.
- Working across all parts of the business to promote and defend priority areas including ESG, Services, iD Mobile, Currys Connected Media, through various media opportunities.
- Supporting Group and financial calendar external communications activity.
- Identifying, anticipating, and handling corporate and consumer media issues to protect our reputation.
- Improving our digital platforms and social media channels.
Requirements:
- Confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expertise in developing and implementing external communications plans aligning internal and external communications with business strategy.
- Outstanding media relations skills and relationships, with experience engaging journalists on a regular basis.
- Skilled at using social media and creating engaging digital content.
- A self-starter with proven ability to think strategically, engage proactively, and take initiative.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Self-assured and adept at providing counsel to senior leaders in the business.
- Knowledge of and passion for sustainability and advancing the circular economy.
- Proven communications experience within a large organisation or leading communications agency. Retail, Consumer or Tech sector experience desirable but not essential.
- Degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 up to 8 years’ corporate communications experience.
