Lead Group has partnered with a leading manufacturer of agricultural and farming equipment in Wagga Wagga, NSW to find a fast-thinking and experienced Operations Manager. This is a key leadership role that involves overseeing the manufacturing and procurement processes within a busy workshop environment. You will be responsible for driving efficiency, improving current processes, and implementing new systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations across manufacturing and procurement, ensuring smooth workflow and timely project completion.
- Manage a diverse team of 35 workers, including painters, blasters, fitters, engineers, and general workshop hands, with a total team size of 53.
- Lead and mentor the Procurement Manager and Manufacturing Manager, providing guidance and support to optimise their functions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement new systems to enhance productivity and quality.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to develop strategies for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Manage procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and timely availability of materials.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality assurance, ensuring all products meet the required standards.
- Solve complex problems that arise in the manufacturing process, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across the workshop.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in workshop management, with a strong background in manufacturing and procurement.
- Experience in the manufacturing of agricultural or farming equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and implement effective solutions.
- Experience in logistics and supply chain management is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and implement new systems.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work closely with senior management and report directly to the General Manager.
