We are seeking a strategic Assistant Director who excels at problem-solving and advising on the design, development, and implementation of audience-focused communications and engagement strategies. In this role, you will leverage research, insights, and ongoing evaluation to shape initiatives that resonate with the community and align with government priorities.
As a key member of our forward-thinking and inclusive team, you will contribute to projects with both directorate-wide and whole-of-government impact. Your work will be instrumental in ensuring that the Canberra community remains well-informed about government programs, policies, and services, and has meaningful opportunities to influence decision-making.
To fill this role, you’ll be a communications professional who puts the audience at the centre of what you do. You will understand that evidence-based communications and engagement are the best kind, and you will have a proven track record in proactively identifying opportunities and collaborating with your peers to produce positive communication outcomes.
Eligibility/Other requirements: Relevant tertiary education qualifications and/or demonstrated minimum of five years’ experience working professionally in communication, journalism, media and/or public relations is highly desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position operates in an activity-based working (ABW) environment. Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
