For every child, a fair chance
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have worked in the Philippines continuously since 1948. To date, we are 120 dedicated staff working from our offices in Manila and Cotabato.
UNICEF’s vision for every child in the Philippines is intimately linked to the realization of several Sustainable Development Goals and the promise of the international community to leave no one behind. By 2030, we want to see that no child in the Philippines suffers from hunger; that every child has access to good health services, quality education opportunities, clean water and toilets; and children grow up protected and develop in an inclusive, just and peaceful society.
Since its establishment, UNICEF has been helping the Philippine government to strengthen national policies, programmes and services to ensure that all Filipino children enjoy their rights. UNICEF supports the Government to extend the coverage and implementation of policies and legislation that benefit children and the most disadvantaged; to support the implementation of positive budget reforms and leverage the considerable fiscal space; to innovate and adapt national programmes to support inclusivity and relevance in diverse remote rural areas, impoverished urban areas, hazard and conflict-prone areas; and to strengthen national capacity to monitor change for children.
As an impartial partner, we are mandated to work with both state and non-state actors to protect the rights and promote the wellbeing of every child. We have successfully worked through many Government reforms in the Philippines, and we continue to work with the national government, its different agencies and departments, and with local government units and authorities, including the Bangsamoro Transition Authority in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
UNICEF’s capacity, technical skills and structure allow us to work effectively with policy and decision-makers and be among the first responders to humanitarian crisis. It allows us to assess and respond quickly to the priorities and needs of communities in the most remote and underserved areas of the country.
UNICEF’s geographic priority areas in the Philippines include Northern Samar, Western Samar, Zamboanga del Norte and BARMM, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

How can you make a difference?
The Programme Assistant (CP), GS5 is primarily responsible for supporting the Nutrition Unit’s PMNP project by carrying out a range of procedural, administrative, and operational tasks, to help develop, implement, and monitor, the project activities ensuring timely and effective delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.
Under the supervision of the PMNP Programme Specialist the post shall undertake the following tasks:
Facilitate the processing of contracts for consultants, vendors and external partners that support the office in programme delivery. This includes preparing and filing documents, completing necessary forms and templates, uploading Terms of Reference (TOR) in VISION, and making necessary logistical arrangements. Keeps vendor lists, partners, and consultant rosters up to date. Collect invoices and filing documents for approval and thereafter processing in the appropriate system applications. Prepare and maintain records, documents, and control plans for the monitoring of project/programme implementation and financial expenditures. Support the management of administrative supplies and office equipment. Maintain the office calendar and arrange meetings. Taking minutes of meetings and keeping the correspondence of the team well organized. Provide travel assistance to staff members in section for travel arrangements and entitlements based on the organization’s rules and policies. Liaise with relevant travel focal points to ensure that the organization obtains the best service and price for all travel. Maintain and update the system which monitors the absence of staff. Prepare and maintain records pertaining to programme planning and development for his/her respective section. Carry out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs) and makes amendments and alterations as per section revisions when necessary. Support capacity development activities, meetings, and conferences by making the logistical arrangements, by engaging with facilitators, caterers, and hosts; arranging times by liaising with participants over availability; liaising with budget focal points and section over costs and needs; and preparing background materials for participants.
