Prospero Teaching is currently seeking a CELTA Specialist Teaching Assistant who is interested in supporting students who speak English as an additional language.
CELTA SPECIALIST TEACHING ASSISTANT JOB INFORMATION:
A large, diverse, mixed Ofsted Outstanding secondary school located in Kensington and Chelsea is seeking a CELTA Teaching Assistant to support students' learning of English as an additional language. This role requires someone to tailor support to match the learners' needs, observe, record, and provide feedback on performance, tracking the process of their language development. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has a passion for CELTA and knowledge of supporting people who speak additional languages.
A FEW DUTIES ABOUT THIS CELTA SPECIALIST:
- Support students learning of English as an additional language.
- Tailor support to match the learners' needs.
- Observe, record and provide feedback on performance.
- Track the process of language development.
- Liaise with teachers to develop and deliver high-quality interventions for CELTA students.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO FILL THIS CELTA SPECIALIST TEACHING ASSISTANT JOB:
- CELTA / TEFL / CELTA qualification
- GCSEs and A levels
- Hours Required: 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday, full-time ideally
- Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to apply for DBS disclosure.
- Rates of pay: GBP 150 per day
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS CELTA TEACHING ASSISTANT?
As a CELTA Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting students who speak English as a second language, both within lessons and outside the classroom. You will ensure they are learning and develop skills focusing on numeracy and literacy to engage the students. This role will build your knowledge of how students are monitored, data is analyzed, and attainment is raised, allowing for more effective management by teachers. You will learn and implement strategies to support students in engaging with the curriculum.
WHAT WILL PROSPERO AND THE SCHOOL DO TO HELP ME IF I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE?
As a new member of staff, you will be given an induction by Prospero and allocated a line manager in the school, usually the Higher Learning Teaching Assistant and SENCO. These individuals will provide you with extensive guidance and support, along with support from Prospero.
