A market leader in their industry with branches nationally, this Australian business is currently looking for an Inventory Accountant to join its head office team on a temporary contract basis to support a range of process improvement initiatives. The focus of the position is to work closely with the broader finance team, operations and supply chain to improve product profitability.
This is a project-based role with day-to-day responsibilities including:
- Ensure product costs are accurate and reflect their true cost to support decision-making.
- Lead monthly reviews with the supply chain team to analyse changes in pricing, freight and exchange rates through variance analysis.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of all inventory-related transactions and associated data.
- Conduct ongoing margin analysis and cost variance analysis, identifying opportunities for cost improvements.
- Prepare ad-hoc analysis and reports for both supply chain and finance teams.
- Support report design aimed at improving the quality of reporting and analysis providing the business with better cost visibility.
To succeed in this role, you will need to be a commercially astute accountant, and ideally possess prior exposure to manufacturing, inventory and costing. Exceptional communication skills are a must given this role partners with the operations and product teams nationally. You will also need to possess strong Excel skills, prior exposure to a major ERP and be CPA/CA qualified.
