PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Specialist Locomotive Maintenance Practices is responsible for the development and updating of procedures associated with the maintenance of CPKC’s locomotive fleet. Using an understanding of reliability methods, data analytics and locomotive technology, key tasks are to develop and review work instructions to facilitate effective maintenance and troubleshooting practices.
This role has the responsibility for day-to-day and life-cycle locomotive maintenance procedure development and documentation which will have a direct impact on the reliability of CPKC’s locomotive fleet. This will include development of troubleshooting and maintenance task lists within SAP to provide direction to shop personnel.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Work with the Specialist Mechanical Data Analytics to find opportunities where locomotive remote monitoring systems’ data can be used to create pinpointed defect identification, streamline inspection requirements, reduce shop dwell time and costs, and support Reliability-Centered Maintenance practices
- Using knowledge of locomotive maintenance, consultation with subject matter experts and analysis/reporting from SAP, identify gaps in work instructions and recommend either development of new procedures or modification of existing task lists to improve sub-system reliability and reduce costs
- Use quantitative analysis skills to assess historical repairs’ effect on reliability, adjust work instructions and preventive maintenance cycles to improve the effectiveness of troubleshooting and maintenance activities
POSTION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma/general equivalency diploma, required
- 3 plus years’ experience in locomotive maintenance or heavy equipment industries with an emphasis on maintenance life cycle planning and analysis
- Proficiency with Reliability analysis and familiarity with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) practices is desired
- Strong problem-solving/resolution skills
- Strong communication skills (provide clear and concise instructions/directions)
- Locomotive equipment or similar heavy-duty machinery knowledge
- Knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance (PM)
