OVERVIEW OF ASSIGNMENT
This field job requires driving your personal vehicle to various locations in L.A, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino County metropolitan areas, to operate and maintain a variety of electromechanical equipment and instrumentation used in monitoring air pollutants such as gaseous and particulate air contaminants, and atmospheric conditions. Mileage will be reimbursed. The individual will also inspect meters, pumps, recorders, tubing, wiring, etc.; retrieve and replace strip charts, air filters, canisters, etc.; deliver the retrieved charts, canisters, and filters to the laboratory; prepare computer logs and reports on equipment performance and on maintenance performed; some basic laboratory sample preparation duties may be required; and other related work, as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN
Education—Completion of significant college coursework in electronics, physics, chemistry or related fields OR directly transferable experience. Education claimed will be verified – original transcripts required. (Foreign degrees MUST have been formally evaluated for equivalency.)
Ability to—operate electronic and mechanical instrumentation; maintain, service and perform routine repair of instruments and equipment at air monitoring and meteorological stations; understand and follow oral and written instructions; mathematically reduce data to useable form; respond to emergency service calls in a timely manner; prepare and maintain logs, records, and reports; and communicate clearly in English; and perform related duties.
License—California Class C Driver License and auto insurance that meets California requirements.
Work Schedule: Five 8-hour days, with two consecutive days off (not necessarily Saturday and Sunday). This assignment requires that field work be completed and air samples transported to a central laboratory location by 11:00 in the morning. Depending upon morning traffic patterns, the temp worker may be required to begin work as early as 4:00 a.m. Candidates must be willing and able to accommodate this work schedule. Advanced notice of any planned absences is requested whenever possible. Frequent absences are grounds for dismissal. Flexibility and dependability are critical in this assignment.
Work Location: This assignment will require travel to various locations throughout the four-County metropolitan area (L.A., Orange, and parts of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties).
