Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager Trade Pricing and Promotion to join our expanding Revenue Growth Management (RGM) team at Community Coffee. As the Trade Pricing and Promotion Manager, you will play a vital role in evaluating and refining price pack architecture strategy for our range of packaged coffee and affiliated products. Your expertise in analyzing market data, identifying risks and opportunities, managing gross margin, monitoring competitor pricing, and leveraging consumer insights will be instrumental in optimizing our price, promotion and assortment strategies to increase sales, profitability and market share. RGM’s purpose is to drive achievement of net revenue, gross margin and market share goals by providing analytics, actionable insights and recommendations. The RGM team strategically supports this outcome by creating and improving pricing, promotional processes, product mix, forecasting accuracy and integrating tools. RGM collaborates most closely with Sales, Finance and Marketing.
The Senior Manager Trade Pricing & Promotion has responsibility for supporting the development of gross price, promotional and product mix strategy across retail channels. The Senior Manager will deliver analytics, guidance and reporting that optimizes gross price, trade spend and assortment to achieve the company’s financial and share objectives. In addition, the Senior Manager will be responsible for coordinating, communicating, and supporting the execution of the annual Trade Planning process, working closely with the Sales and Finance teams. The role reports to the RGM Senior Director and will have supervisory responsibility.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
- Support the annual trade planning process
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing & Finance, to align pricing & assortment strategies with business objectives
- Develop trade price, promotion & assortment strategies & tactics enabling company to achieve objectives
- Create promotional pricing guardrails & guidelines; manage compliance
- Develop & maintain promotional calendars, pricing models & tools
- Create & execute a post-event analysis process to evaluate return on investment
- Work collaboratively with Sales Managers to effectively manage & oversee the use of promotional spend
- Conduct regular price & margin analysis to evaluate performance & identify areas for improvement
- Analyze market trends & competitor assortment, pricing, and deal frequency to identify opportunities and threats; recommend appropriate course correction
- Work with Sales teams on customer specific proposals involving special circumstances or exceptions to pricing & promotion policy
- Directly engage with Sales team to drive strategy into execution in support of top customers' business & line reviews
- Lead ad-hoc projects that enhance the company’s growth & profitability
- Prepare & deliver regular reports to management, highlighting financial & sales performance, variances & areas for improvement
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends & best practices in pricing & promotion
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- May be asked to perform additional duties as necessary
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus
- Minimum 7 years of experience within branded CPG industry, preferably food & beverage or other promotionally sensitive, highly elastic commodity categories within the functional areas of Revenue Growth Management, Trade Marketing, Category Management and/or Financial Planning & Analysis
- Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience managing Business Analysts
- Experience with CPG trade strategy, specifically pricing, post-promotional analysis channel assortment, price/pack architecture, competitor benchmarking & trade spend effectiveness
- Experience applying and adapting pricing and promotion strategy and tactics with major retail chains in the Food, Drug, Mass, Club, Dollar and On-line channels
- Experience using/integrating Circana/IRI/Nielsen consumption data, ERP (SAP preferred) shipments data and Numerator market research data
- Experience using Trade Promotion Management (TPM) systems for planning, forecasting and evaluation, preferably BluePlanner.
- Strong analytical ability and financial acumen with demonstrated experience in synthesizing complex data, drawing insights, and developing actionable recommendations
- Proficiency in using pricing analytics tools & techniques
- Proven ability to develop innovative and creative solutions that result in higher profitability
- Understanding of Trade Promotion Management (TPM) and Trade Promotional Optimization (TPO) tools; experience with sales forecasting in TPM/TPO applications, BluePlanner preferred
- Understanding of P&L, Price Elasticity, Trade Spend, Return on Investment, Gross Margin
- Officed on-site in either Baton Rouge LA or Frisco TX
