Job description:
We are seeking a Division Vice President, OPEX for the Measurement, Communications & Testing (MCT) Division reporting to the Division General Manager. This pivotal role will work closely with the divisional leaders and Business Units (BU) to facilitate success within operations and logistics functions. The Division Vice President, OPEX will develop and coordinate Divisional Operation strategies, policies, and processes and work with BU Management on initiatives that will strategize, facilitate, and deliver improved operational performance. (S)he will play a critical role in annual strategic planning, operations reviews, and budget presentations to executive management, and will lead operations due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions in MCT.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Be a hands-on leader building proficiency in operations and supply chain functions in the business units.
• Own operational due diligence for all M&A activities in the division to ensure successful integration and delivery of synergies.
• Establish a vision for MCT Operations and Supply Chain and drive execution in all BUs leveraging OPEX tools and techniques modules.
• Coach and create a continuous improvement culture by interfacing with Business Unit Managers, Plant Directors, Engineering Groups, Strategic Purchasing
groups and all Production areas and HR.
• Develop Current/ future Value Stream Process maps and plan improvement activities that will deliver future Productivity savings as per budget.
• Build/standardize an effective Sales & Operational Planning process.
• Ensure all sites have credible monthly Production schedules and backlog visibility to enable successful shipments that meet forecasted requirements.
• Work with Plant leaders to compile Capital projects that will secure viability and continuity of production.
• Coordinate and execute all Cost Reduction and Six Sigma Projects.
• Co-Ordinate OPEX training activities and create an effective visual communication process across all sites in the division.
• Focus the Supply Chain Function on achieving business metrics.
• Define division structure and capabilities needed to drive results & culture.
Main Purpose of the Position:
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement in operations and supply chain through all processes and products in the division.
• Establish capability requirements for each BU and develop, motivate, and train people across all sites, after alignment with divisional leadership team.
• Implement Low-Cost Region production and coach those teams to become reliably mature in operations.
• Develop a division sourcing strategy and build appropriate low-cost sourcing capabilities to support ongoing costs targets of the business.
• Co-Ordinate OPEX & Six Sigma Kaizen event activities across the Division
• Improve Working Capital, product profile, cost, profit, and availability metrics in line with Divisional Budget expectations.
• Play a pivotal role as enabler of successful integration of acquisitions.
Key Accountabilities/ Success Factors:
• Create a safe working environment which recognizes Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
• Develop and maintain Value Stream Map process and implement OPEX initiatives to towards the vision and performance improvements.
• Deliver factory commitment to OPEX targets in assessment criteria.
• Deliver OPEX training plan with Plant and supplemental resources.
• Develop understanding of division capabilities to assess fit of operations of new acquisitions and successfully integrate into the division without impacting results.
• Ability to travel up to 50%, domestic and international to engage with all sites in the division regularly.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations or related; MBA preferred.
• 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, in operations in an Electronics or Electro-mechanical manufacturing or similar environment.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to set vision and strategy for Operations.
• Demonstrated success in relocation of operations to global, low-cost areas.
• Ability to effectively communicate information to executives and managers.
• Ability to translate strong knowledge of business system and inventory control systems into actionable results with the production and supply chain teams.
• History of hiring, developing, growing, motivating, and mentoring operations talent and driving a strong succession pipeline.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills and fluency with ERP and internal software.
• Preferred location will be Chicago, IL.
