Hiring Range: $86,361.60 - $113,830.08/Year. It is anticipated the hiring rate offered will be +/- the midpoint range depending on qualifications.
Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position will design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures using Cisco networking hardware and software. They will be crucial in ensuring efficient and secure network operations within the organization while supporting the IT Infrastructure & Operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Designs and implements new network solutions and/or improves the efficiency of current networks
- Configures, installs and supports all Port facilities and data center networks
- Develops and enforces network policies and standards
- Plans and prepares project roadmaps
- Develops network automation tools to support enterprise network
- Creates and maintains proper documentation of networks
- Conducts feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed network solutions
- Plans and coordinates network expansions and upgrades
- Implements procedures to recover from network failures, assists with disaster recovery testing and planning
- Installs, configures, and tests Cisco networking devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
- Diagnoses and resolves network performance issues, outages, and security breaches
- Monitors network performance and identifies potential problems proactively
- Reports network status and performance issues to management timely
- Implements preventative maintenance procedures and security patches
- Designs and implements network security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control lists
- Responds to security incidents and implements remediation strategies
- Plans, evaluates, installs, configures and supports the SAN (Storage Area Network), the LAN (Local-Area-Network), WAN (Wide-Area-Network), W-LAN (Wireless Local-Area-Network), VMware, and related applications
- Creates, implements and tests procedures for software/hardware related with the redundant network installed at alternate facility computer rooms
- Supports, monitors, tests and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to the LAN, WAN and W-LAN
- Plans and implements all security aspects of the network, including backups, network access and integrity of data
- Assists support of all telephone equipment including mobile phones
- Performs related duties as assigned
- Adheres to PCCA policy and maintains good employee relations
- Drives vehicle as necessary to complete assigned tasks and works required hours/shifts necessary to fulfill facility objectives
- CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
- Tier 1 status designation
CANDIDATE PROFILEThe preferred candidate for this position should be a self-starter capable of independent work and self-creative teamwork; should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university preferred
- CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) required
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
- Valid driver’s license
EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE- Seven or more years of hands-on experience managing and maintaining complex network infrastructures, using Cisco equipment., LAN, WAN and W-LAN, SAN and VMware
TECHNICAL SKILLS- Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and problem solve
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook and other related applications
- Networking Fundamentals: A strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, etc.), and topologies is essential
- Network Hardware: Familiarity with various network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points
- Network Protocols: Proficiency in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), switching protocols (VLANs, STP), and network address translation (NAT)
- Network Security: Knowledge of security best practices, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs
- Ability to diagnose and resolve network issues efficiently
- Ability to create and maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure and procedures
- Ability to understand the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model and network standards
- Knowledge of and demonstrated hands on experience with the following:
- Cisco Catalyst data center class switches
- Cisco wireless LAN controllers or other wireless technologies
- Switch port security features
- Network monitoring tools
- Documentation and procedural installation
- Linux/Windows system administration
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws
- Ability to maintain good employee relations and encourage and foster a helpful environment where teamwork prevails
- Ability to assist senior management and office staff where appropriate
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
