Position Summary: Responsible for the repair, maintenance, installation, troubleshooting and overhaul of all mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, piping, valves and support equipment for the PVSC treatment facility. Must be available for emergencies/job assignments on a 24-hour basis.
Education: High School Diploma, Vocational School Diploma or equivalency certificate. Advanced training at a technical college or trade school is desirable.
Requirements: Knowledge of production machinery, pumps and other heavy rotating machinery. Ability to understand mechanical drawings, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic schematics. Knowledge of machine shop practices and the basic principles of rigging and millwright work. Knowledgeable in the use of safety precautions that must be exercised during maintenance and repair. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into Confined Spaces while wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), in compliance with PVSC’s Facial Hair Grooming Policy.
Experience:
Mechanic I – Minimum of six (6) years’ of progressive experience.
Mechanic II – Minimum of four (4) years’ of progressive experience.
Mechanic III – Minimum of three (3) years’ of progressive experience.
Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.
