Job Description: Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for a Lead System Integrator work from their Manassas, VA facility. As the Lead System Integrator on the USW-DSS program, you will have voting membership in the government's Technical Review Boards to manage the Software/System baselines. You will be lead the team in the planning, integrating, securing, and validating USW-DSS software baselines presenting OQE to the deployment authorization board. You will also own designing, building, and maintaining the development and deployment hosting infrastructure. This role includes working directly with the customer Technical Director and Lead System Engineer to track and realize evolving program objectives.
The ideal candidate is a systems engineer with a strong software background and experience with both networking hardware and software. Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
As the USW-DSS Lead System Integrator and Chief Engineer, you will typically work in the following areas:- Provide technical leadership, mentoring. direction and review of system development including requirements definition, architectural designs, prototyping and work breakdown to accomplish completed products on schedule with program increments. Work includes identifying and hiring personnel resources required.
- Use JIRA, BitBucket, and Confluence to plan, coordinate and monitor the team tasks and SW deliveries (both external and internal). Keep Program leadership informed of program progress and help manage/mitigate risks.
- Aggregate and moderate the team inputs to the weekly and Monthly program Status Reports.
- Lead the team to Build/Secure and Monitor networked open Virtualization host environments and DEVOPS processes thar support Collaborative Virtual Integration environments.
- Work includes HW selection and procurement.
- Participate as voting member in program technical leadership meetings to review plans, monitor execution, and adjudicate program issues.
- Work with the program System Engineering and technical leadership teams to identify, scope and plan incremental updates of capability.
- Review and release semi-annual SW installation packages to support updates in the fleet.
- Work includes remote and onsite support to the Installers and warfighters.
- Perform Task/Budget estimates in coordination with Progeny's program manager to support customer budget allocations.
- Be available as required for Tier 3 support of remote issues with the program.
- Potentially travel to assist/train the Installation team on new installations.
- Coordinate responses from the first/second tier support personnel to identify where we can improve the support documentation.

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong software background and experience with associated networking hardware
- Experienced in technical project management

- Use of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to document and support system requirements, design, and analysis
- Experience or familiarity with cyber security practices such as encryption, certificate/key management, patch management, STIG, RMF, or security hardening, and auditing
- Multi-level security domain expertise (and cross-domain)
- Experience or familiarity with DevOps concepts and practices
