Human Resources Intern - May 2025 - May 2026

This is an in-office position in our West Des Moines location working full-time hours during the summer and at least 15 hours during the school year.
What You'll Do: In this role, you will work closely with our Talent Acquisition Team on all recruiting efforts. You will complete the full cycle recruiting for our internship program. You will also work closely with the Talent Programs Coordinator and Talent Acquisition Coordinator on full-time positions to post jobs, schedule interviews, process new hire information through our system, run background checks, and conduct candidate exploration calls. In addition to these duties, the HR Intern will also:
- Help create content for our internal TV channel.
- Assist with the facilitation of new hire events and being involved in various onboarding activities.
- Plan and coordinate our annual Insurance Careers Exploration Event for high school and college students.
- Plus other opportunities for different projects.
As an intern, you will also participate in corporate activities that give you a sense of our industry, our company, and help you understand our culture firsthand. Our internship program holds an 80/10/10 approach, meaning that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area. Another 10% of the time, you will be exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division to get more corporate experience. Then, the final 10% will be spent in shared experiences across the organization, where you will get to really learn about our culture and work environment.
What It Takes to Join Our Team:
- Be a current student, working toward a human resources, business administration, communications, psychology, or similar degree.
- Be passionate about learning new things and be tech savvy (ability to learn new systems quickly is a must).
- Be an effective communicator.
- Exceptional writing skills are critical for success in this role.
- Ability to work in-person from May 2025 through May 2026 from our office in West Des Moines, Iowa.
