JOB GOAL:
Participates in a broad range of activities, including but not limited to the administration and maintenance of systems across the organization. Helps support and deliver new technology solutions in a Microsoft environment and helps oversees the worked performed by a managed service provider. This position requires participation and contribution to various initiatives including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, messaging, file services, web services, virtualization, and systems/application migrations. The Assistant Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science degree related field or 5 years of comparable equivalent technical work experience
- 2 years of technical work experience in a related role
- 2+ years administrating Active Directory (AD), Azure AD, and Windows Server environments, including OS installation, ADUC, DHCP, DNS, IIS, Group Policy, File Sharing, NTFS permissions.
- 2+ years integrating, upgrading, and installing applications/systems.
- 2+ years’ experience working with public cloud environments such AWS, Azure, and Google
- 1+ years administrating a Microsoft messaging environment including MS-Exchange and M-365 Online, MX Records, SPAM Filtering, Email Routing, Distribution Groups
- 1+ years’ experience administering a Microsoft 365 environment.
- 1+ experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare.
- Experience administering Microsoft SQL 2012 or later is preferred.
- Experience with Server Storage (RAID, SAN, NAS, Partition\LUN) and Capacity planning is preferred.
- Certifications preferred (MCSE, CompTIA, CCNP, etc.)
- Child Abuse Clearance; Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Clearance require
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in administering Active Directory (AD) and Azure Active Directory in a mixed Windows environment.
- Responsible for administering a Microsoft Exchange environment, and leading migration efforts to Office 365 business class messaging services.
- Participate in projects and work performed by a managed services provider.
- Participate in efforts to support, patch, and upgrade applications.
- Manage and monitor server backups.
- Monitor and respond to system alerts.
- Participate in the efficient operation and interconnectivity of systems and will help in efforts to integrate and/or develop interfaces with applications Participate in technical reviews and product research services, concepts, and ideas as directed.
- Interact with vendors and contractors to secure products and services.
- Maintain system security by performing audits and adhering to industry best practices
- Participate as a member in projects, contribute to policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.
- Collaborate with team members for problem resolution.
- Automate and standardize processes for system administration.
- Monitor system availability, performance and capacity, and take proactive steps to ensure the Service Level Agreements and highest levels are met.
- Identify potential security vulnerabilities, bug fixes and status of affected versions of software, applying updates as needed.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configurations and processes.
- Specify, install, and maintain TVs, click shares, and cables for conference rooms and other designated areas.
- Capable of multi-tasking multiple projects and determining task priority
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and services
- Work collaboratively with others in a diverse and inclusive environment
- Must be able to travel as required
- May be required to work outside normal office hours as required and to minimize impact to PA Cyber business operations
- Perform any additional duties as deemed necessary by the Systems Engineer
