SUMMARY
Superintendent is responsible for the field work on a project, ensuring that company policies and procedures are met in regards to safety, environmental compliance, quality, scheduling, budget and customer satisfaction. Job responsibilities include all types of marine construction including pile driving, deep foundations, wharfs, piers, bulkheads, bridges, dredging, concrete, heavy lifts, and cable laying.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.
- Provide supervisory direction of craft workers. Manage the execution and performance of productivity, safety, quality and adherence to schedule for each assignment. Organize and schedule the work force; assign, oversee and follow up on performance of work.
- Supervise foremen assigned to area of responsibility as a liaison between field engineering, estimating, and crafts to ensure compliance of construction with drawings and specifications
- Work with Project staff to develop and maintain the Project Schedule.
- Assist project team with the development of Project Plans, Work Element Plans, and JSA’s
- Develop and establish checklists for inspections, audits, emergency response, etc.
- Instruct and train employees, subcontractors and others in safe and efficient methods of construction.
- Implement and supervise quality control standards for each field operation.
- Coordinate and maintain equipment required for the project.
- Collaborates with Project Team, client, inspectors, etc. to isolate problems and assist in developing solutions to problems.
- Execute field operations within all Federal, State, and local environmental rules and regulations.
- Maintain a high standard of ethical behavior, encourages ethical behavior in others, supports ethical decisions and actively seeks appropriate resolution to potential ethical conflicts.
- Ensures compliance with Manson’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises craft employees on a construction site. Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies, procedures and applicable federal and state laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Directs best work practices in conjunction with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.S. in a technical area of study, typically Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or Construction Management and/or 5-10 years of heavy civil field construction supervision work experience. Field experience should include a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Foreman or Superintendent role as Carpenter, Pile Driver, Operator or Laborer. Must have hands on field experience as well as supervisory experience in a specific construction discipline (Marine construction, structures, heavy lifts or concrete experience preferred).
Knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
First Aid/CPR Certification, preferred
OSHA Certification, preferred
Fall Protection Competent Person, preferred
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) required. Experience with scheduling, estimating, computer-aided design (CAD) and project management software, preferred.

Over 75% of the time will require working outside on the job site and equipment. Less than 25% of the time will require working at a desk. This position will require relocations or travel depending of the project location and requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position is primarily a field position and will require travel, including visits and monitoring of construction job sites. Employees must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc). The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time.
