SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The High Speed Trainset Electrical Technician, with knowledge of electrical power, control, onboard passenger comfort systems and onboard safety systems is the troubleshooter and repair person working on Amtrak’s High Speed Trainsets. This individual is responsible for performing repair, maintenance, serving and inspection activities in accordance with HST Maintenance practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform required inspections, troubleshoot systems, monitor systems, and determine required corrective action
- Train members of your craft and other Trainset mechanics in the operation and repair of systems and components to improve the skill level of all Trainset mechanics
- Must have working knowledge of all electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and be able to make repairs to them based upon the training received
- Work in a team environment, performing other work as required regardless of classification to the level of their ability
- basic skills necessary to independently inspect, repair or replace components and troubleshot equipment to determine required corrective action and determine causes of failures on equipment which generally fall within the scope of their craft agreements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in electrical repairs, and testing advanced electrical/electronic systems and reading, drafting, and interpreting circuit diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings
- Experience in both A/C and D/C electrical systems
- Must successfully complete training and attain/retain certifications applicable to assigned job
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot using schematics and multimeters
- Knowledge and skill in the use of electrical tools, equipment, and the measurements necessary to meet established standards

The hourly rate is $35.38 - $41.63 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
