ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
As directed by supervisory personnel, Lead Tool & Die maker, or from written or verbal instructions, blueprints, and sketches, lays out work, builds and repairs tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and parts under the direction of Supervisor. Builds and overhauls machinery. Sets up and operates all tool room machines to specified tolerances. Uses machinists hand and power tools and measuring instruments. Makes necessary mathematical calculations. Performs welding, brazing, and heat treating operations when required. Works with operators and or setup leads on installation of new setups and revised setups.
Those serving as CNC Operator will set up their own work and tooling, make alignment checks, set tooling offsets or trims, inspect their own work, and determine reasonable feed and speed overrides.
The will also be responsible for monitoring machining operations and reacting to prevent tool crashes, due to programming errors and other unplanned situations that could lead to costly down time and machine repairs.
All employees are required to:
- Complete and pass a formal 6 month training program.
- Abide by safety policies, operator preventative maintenance and housekeeping practices.
- Ensure the quality specification of the product.
- Accurately complete process and quality documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Communicate respectfully with others.
- Work with limited supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) year technical degree or equivalent experience and two years practical experience with demonstration of skills in a work based assessment.
